Kris Kristofferson - (Singer Songwriter, Actor) Influential American country music songwriter, singer and actor, Kris Kristofferson, well known for the hits "Me and Bobby McGee," "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down," and "Help Me Make It Through the Night," had joined the U.S. Army and achieved the rank of captain. He became a helicopter pilot after receiving flight training at Fort Rucker in southeastern Alabama and during the early 1960s, he was stationed in West Germany. After his discharge from the Army in 1965, Kristofferson pursued a successful musical career, formed a successful band and began songwriting full time. Kristofferson has also used his famous voice as a member of Veterans for Peace, taking several trips to Nicaragua with Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, during the 1980s.
