Mel Brooks - (Writer, Comedian and Actor) Mel Brooks (Melvin Kaminsky) joined the US Army during WWII and became a combat engineer. He cleared German mines after the Battle of the Bulge and later organized shows for the US troops. Thus began his hugely successful career as a comedian, writer and producer of movies as well as the award-winning Broadway musical based on his movie, "The Producers."
